Description

SUMMARY
Operates various power-driven machinery used to move dirt or other materials. May operate all or some of the following types of equipment: backhoe, bulldozer, crane, dragline, front-end loader, motor grader, cherry picker, dump truck, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Sets up and operates production equipment in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
2. Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications, accurately and in a timely manner.
3. Moves hand and foot levers to control diesel, electric, gasoline, or steam-powered equipment.
4. Interprets hand signals to determine where materials are to be placed.
5. May manipulate equipment on unlevel working surfaces.
6. May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and workpieces during installation.
7. May be responsible for routine maintenance or repairs.
8. Observes and complies with all safety and project rules.
9. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

• Observes load hookup and determines safety of load.
• Manipulates crane controls to regulate speed and direction according to instructions.
• Cleans and maintains crane and hoisting mechanisms.
• Inspects crane for defects and reports issues.
• Loads, transports, and unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment.
• May interpret load charts.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with experience in the field or related area. Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures. Works under supervision, following instructions and guidelines. Reports to a supervisor or manager.

• Standing: 5%, Walking: 5%, Sitting: 90%
• Lifting: 10 lb., Carrying: 10 lb., Pushing: 50 ft-lb., Pulling: 50 ft-lb.
