Overview

Job title: General Laboratory Supervisor | Reports to: Operations Laboratory Director | Location: Aurora, CO, USA | FLSA Status: Full time, Exempt

Oxford Cancer Analytics (OXcan) is an emerging diagnostics company that leverages advanced proteomics and machine learning to create innovative tests for earlier and more accurate assessment of lung diseases. Founded in Oxford, OXcan partners with leading research and clinical institutions to accelerate the translation of laboratory breakthroughs into improved patient care.

Responsibilities
  • General Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for managing day-to-day high complexity testing operations, ensuring regulatory compliance to CLIA, staff competency, and accurate result reporting.
  • Monitor quality control, train personnel, perform competency assessments, and provide technical support to technical staff.
  • May participate in execution of technical operations when trained on process/methods.
  • Maintain accessibility during testing hours and ensure strict conformance to quality standards.
Primary duties and responsibilities
  • Regulatory compliance: maintain and ensure adherence to CLIA requirements, internal quality management systems, and accreditation body requirements.
  • Personnel Management: develop and implement personnel training programs, execute required training, and provide basic supervision on a day-to-day basis.
  • Operational Oversight: manage daily laboratory workflows based on sample volume and staff availability, including sample accessioning/inspection, processing, quality control metrics, and meeting business/quality metrics (e.g., turn-around time, deviations).
  • Quality Assurance: participate in initiation, investigation, root cause analysis, correction and tracking of non-conforming products; identify and implement quality metrics for non-conforming trends; participate in deviations, CAPAs, recalls; compile data for management review metrics.
  • Technical Support: act as liaison for the laboratory director, providing on-site, phone, and electronic support during testing.
  • Delegated responsibilities: Laboratory Director or technical supervisor may delegate additional duties including:
  • Assuring remedial actions are taken when test systems deviate from performance specifications;
  • Reviewing and ensuring patient test results are not reported until corrective actions are complete and systems are functioning;
  • Providing orientation to testing personnel;
  • Evaluation and documentation of personnel competency testing.
Qualifications
  • Education: One of the following must be met: Doctoral, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution; AND with at least 2 years of clinical laboratory training or experience in a high complexity testing environment; OR
  • Associates degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution; AND includes at least 60 semester hours (minimum includes 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology or 24 semester hours of science with chemistry/biology coursework) AND at least 2 years of clinical laboratory training or experience in a high complexity testing environment; OR
  • Grandfather Provision for individuals qualified and serving as a general supervisor in a CLIA-certified laboratory as of December 28, 2024 and continuous to remain qualified.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a high-complexity laboratory setting, depending on degree as defined above.

Physical Demands
  • Mobility: Extensive periods of standing and walking; long durations at a computer.

  • Dexterity and Senses: Proficiency with computers and laboratory instrumentation; good vision and hearing for monitoring safety and testing interruptions.
  • Environment: potential exposure to hazardous materials, including biological fluids, infectious agents, chemical fumes.

Salary Range: $85–105k depending on qualifications and experience
