Job summary

SERVPRO of Benton, Jasper, Newton & Southern Lake Counties is seeking a committed team member for restoration and handyman work. You will respond to emergencies, aid in water and fire damage restoration, load and maintain equipment, and communicate clearly with clients and supervisors on site.

This role emphasizes teamwork, hands-on tasks, and helping the community. You should be comfortable outdoors, with physical labor and the ability to learn new skills while supporting local property owners

Qualifications

• Experience in handyman or construction.
• Ability to work in teams and learn new skills.
• Willingness to work on-call shifts, including evenings/weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to emergency situations such as water or fire damage.
• Assist in restoration activities: water extraction, drying, equipment setup, demolition.
• Load and inventory vehicles, maintain tools and supplies on site.
• Communicate safety hazards, findings, and tool requirements to supervisors.
• Keep clients informed about the restoration process and respond to concerns.
• Perform restoration and cleanup tasks including water extraction and site cleanup.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to emergency situations, including water damage, fire damage.


• Evaluate and perform restoration activities including but not limited to, water extraction, fire damages, set-up of specialty equipment, and demolition.


• Load, inventory, and maintain work vehicles with tools, equipment, and all necessary supplies for each project.


• Effectively communicate safety hazards, job site findings, equipment, and tool requirements for the worksite with supervisors.


• Maintain open and clear communication with clients, addressing their concerns and explaining the restoration process.


• Perform restoration and cleanup tasks, including water extraction, drying and site clean-up

Position Requirements

• Valid driver’s license


• Willingness to work occasional on-call shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.


• Previous experience in restoration, construction, or a related field is preferred.


• IICRC certification is a plus.

Skills/Physical Demands/Competencies

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.


• Ability to climb ladders, work at ceiling heights, work in tight spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, attics)


• Ability to repetitively push/pull/lift/carry objects.


• Ability to work with/around cleaning agents.
