Job summary

The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District is seeking a Part-time General Kitchen Worker to assist in daily meal preparation and service. The role runs 4.5 hours per day, five days a week, for ten months, Monday through Friday, with a starting rate of $19.47 per hour (probationary rate $19.67).

Responsibilities include cooking per recipes, maintaining food safety, serving meals, handling cash via POS, and keeping work areas clean and organized.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Demonstrates ability to follow-through to complete assigned tasks.
• Demonstrates ability to routinely follow recipes consistently.
• Is able to use kitchen equipment such as: slicer, knives, scales, mixers, ovens, warmers, steamer.
• Knows weights and measures.
• Knows food safety procedures.
• Knows what makes a reimbursable school breakfast and lunch
• Is able to interact with others in a positive manner.
• Demonstrates ability to use technology such as TCP and Point of Sale.

Responsibilities

• Prepares cold and hot food according to specified recipes or per the directions of Cafeteria Manager.
• Sets up and breaks down serving lines and areas.
• Serves proper portions of food to be in compliance with federal guidelines and directions of Cafeteria Manager.
• Collects payment for all food served using Point-of-Sale software as assigned.
• Washes dishes and cleans work area, tables, cabinets, and appliances as assigned.
• Reconciles daily cash receipts as assigned.
• Ensures that food is maintained at proper temperature, disposing of food that has expired or reached an unsafe temperature.
• Properly stores leftover food per guidelines for food storage and district procedures.
• Interacts and communicates with the students in a pleasant and courteous manner.
• Arrives to work on time and ready for assignments.
• Maintain 6 CEUs annually consistent with state requirements by attending in-service meetings and trainings.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager.
