Job summary

ESS is seeking a General Helper to support daily operations at our site. The role involves cleaning, food preparation, serving meals, dishwashing and assisting in packaging and distribution of meals according to safety standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of food service experience, good English communication, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The position is seasonal with 8.5-hour shifts and about 20 hours per week; wage starts at CAD 18.95 per

Qualifications

• 1 year of food service experience in a restaurant, banquet or remote camp setting.
• Food Handler Certification or provincial equivalent is an asset.
• Strong time management and organizational skills to be able to manage workload.
• Ability to work both independently and in team setting as required.
• Good command of English language, both verbal and written and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Minor heavy lifting may be involved (up to 40 lb.)

Responsibilities

• Dispense food for next day of production and plate individual meals.

• Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures.
• Perform general cleaning duties; remove trash and garbage to designated areas.

• Utilize approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.
• Assure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.
• Ability to work in various workstations including meal distribution area (packaging).
• Willing to learn skid wrapping of finished product.
• Food preparation and cooking as needed.

Position Requirements:

• Must be 16 years or older
• Pass a Criminal Record Check
• Valid work/study permit required if required
• Shift: 8.5hr/Day / Approx 20hr/Week

The hourly wage for this position is $18.95.Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
