Job description

Sanitation General Help

is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in assigned work areas throughout shifts, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, and fostering a safe working environment for all employees. This role performs in an environment with great exposure to flour.

Role & Responsibilities

• Effectively clean all assigned areas inside and outside the bread manufacturing plant, including equipment, machinery, and general grounds.
• Utilize proper chemical usage, including spraying insecticides or other chemicals when necessary.
• Adhere to food safety standards developed by H&S Bakery.
• Follow instructions regarding work assignments and daily tasks.
• Work in various environments, including wet or dusty conditions.
• Proficiently use plant touch screens and follow CIP (Clean-in-Place) procedures.
• Responsible for any tools assigned to you permanently or temporarily.
• Operate equipment such as pressure washers, chemical formers, electric floor machines, wet and dry vacuums.
• Push carts weighing up to 500 lbs.
• Read and understand labeling on cleaning products and sanitizers.

Requirements & Physical Demands

• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time during a shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push and pull heavy wheeled equipment or carts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and crouch to access equipment, tools, or materials.
• Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or operate machinery, tools, or controls.
• Ability to perceive and respond immediately to visual and audible safety alerts and warnings to ensure the safety of self and others in a fast-paced, hazard-sensitive environment with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and airborne particles, odors, and fumes.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or work platforms as required by the position.
