The Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) is looking for a full-time General Facilities Laborer responsible for various maintenance tasks including building repairs and grounds upkeep. You will perform essential tasks like maintenance, snow removal, and equipment repair.

The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma, experience in maintenance, and be forklift certified. You will need to work in various weather conditions and be available for evening and weekend shifts as required.

Qualifications

• At least one year of building and machine maintenance experience is required.
• Valid NYS driver's license is mandatory.
• Forklift certification and safe operation are necessary.

Responsabilités

• Perform routine building maintenance and repairs including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.

CABVI is seeking a full-time General Facilities Laborer to assist with all aspects of CABVI building maintenance, operation of machinery and vehicles.

Key Job Elements

• Perform routine building maintenance and repair tasks, including but not limited to maintenance and remodeling tasks (e.g., carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing).
• Grounds Maintenance – maintain CABVI grounds in a clean, safe, and orderly manner including mowing, trimming, weeding, minor pest management, and cleaning debris from grounds, pathways, and parking lots.
• Maintain grounds maintenance equipment; prune trees and shrubs and perform snow removal as needed.
• Assist the Facility Supervisor and/or Facilities Mechanic in the repair of CABVI equipment.
• Maintain safe working standards and regulations.
• Perform the duties of a building maintenance assistant, as needed.
• Act as backup for janitorial staff and assist in cleaning as needed.
• Adapt to changes and complete other duties as assigned by manager.
• Consistently achieve annual performance objectives.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights up to 30 feet above the ground or floor. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the key job elements.

Education and/or Experience

H.S. Diploma/GED with at least one‑year building and machine maintenance experience required. Must have and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license. Must be forklift certified and able to operate forklifts safely and responsibly.

Work Environment

In‑house position with travel as needed. Noise level is moderate to loud. Must be available for evening and weekend work depending on agency need. Must be able to work in other locations as needed and in all types of weather conditions, including inside and outside.

Rate of Pay

$18.50
