Ladders is seeking a General Counsel to join our client’s leadership team in Columbia, SC. You will serve as a strategic legal partner to executives, guiding governance, commercial activity, and enterprise risk in a fast-paced business services environment.

You will oversee litigation, employment matters, and contract management, while building scalable legal processes that support efficient decision-making and compliance across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active state bar membership in good standing, preferably South Carolina.
• 5+ years of legal experience in commercial contracts, business law, and employment law.
• Strong professional network for access to external counsel.
• Proven ability to advise executive leadership and stakeholders.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced corporate environment with collaboration.
• Solid understanding of regulatory landscapes and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to executive leadership on governance.
• Lead legal oversight of commercial transactions and negotiate agreements.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a General Counsel to join the team of a leader in the Business Services space.

This role will serve as a strategic legal partner to executive leadership, helping guide corporate governance, commercial activity, and enterprise risk in a fast-paced business services environment. The position will also lead legal oversight of litigation, employment matters, and contract management while supporting the organization’s broader operational and compliance objectives. In addition, the General Counsel will help build scalable legal processes that support efficiency and informed decision-making across the enterprise.

Location: Columbia, SC - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $200,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to executive leadership on corporate initiatives and governance
• Lead legal oversight of commercial transactions, including drafting and negotiating agreements
• Direct the organization’s legal strategy for litigation and manage external legal counsel
• Partner with HR on complex employment matters and compliance issues
• Provide guidance on corporate governance and Board activities
• Lead enterprise risk management by identifying and mitigating legal risks
• Establish scalable contract governance frameworks to enhance operational efficiency
