The Hawaii Public Housing Authority, Department of Human Services, seeks a General Construction and Maintenance Supervisor I to lead skilled trades workers in building, maintenance, and repair projects across facilities and grounds.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in construction and maintenance of buildings and electrical/plumbing systems, with at least one year in a supervisory role, and is capable of planning, scheduling, training, and evaluating staff.

Qualifications

  • Eight (8) years of work experience in construction and maintenance of buildings, structures or electrical/plumbing systems, of which four (4) years shall have been as a fully competent skilled worker.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience including planning and scheduling the work of others, assigning and reviewing their work, providing training and evaluating performance.

Responsibilities

  • The General Construction and Maintenance Supervisor I is the immediate supervisor of skilled trades workers, helpers, equipment operators, laborers and other unskilled and semi-skilled workers in construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of buildings and other structures, paved areas, and electrical or plumbing systems.
  • May supervise the maintenance and repair of motorized equipment used in the work or maintenance of adjacent grounds and landscaping areas.

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK REQUIREMENT:

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Experience and Training:

EIGHT (8) YEARS of work experience in performing a variety of work in the construction and maintenance of buildings, structures or electrical or plumbing systems of which FOUR (4) YEARS shall have been as a FULLY COMPETENT SKILLED WORKER and including ONE (1) YEAR of supervisory experience which included planning and scheduling the work of other fully competent workers, assigning and reviewing their work, providing training and evaluating their work performance; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.
