Job summary

Clemson University in Hunter Hall is seeking a Lecturer to support the teaching mission of the Department of Chemistry. The role coordinates the General Chemistry laboratory sequence CH 1011 and CH 1021, and also teaches lower enrollment labs CH 1051 and CH 1061.

The position requires a Ph.D. in Chemistry with laboratory teaching experience preferred. Responsibilities include overseeing lab operations, training TAs, grading, and ensuring safety and continuity across lab sections.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry. Laboratory teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee weekly lab operations
• coordinate with and train TAs to conduct weekly experiments
• oversee course grading and manage student interactions
• Work closely with laboratory stockroom staff to ensure safe and functional weekly lab operations
• Work with Director of Undergraduate Teaching Labs and Organic Chemistry Laboratory Coordinator to ensure operational continuity and alignment across lab sections
• Work with Director of General Chemistry to ensure adequate overlap of lab activities with lecture coverage
• Devise and revise laboratory experiments with emphasis on green chemistry and engaging students
• Coordinate with safety and stockroom staff to maintain a safe lab environment
