Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Heart in Manchester, TN is seeking a cardiologist for an employed, full-time position within a nonprofit health system. You will join an established team of physicians and APPs and provide expert cardiovascular care in a busy heart center.

Candidates should be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiology, with MD/DO credentials and Tennessee licensure. Involvement in education, research, and quality programs may be expected, with CME support and generous benefits.

Qualifications

• Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills; coordinate discharge planning with case management.
• Participate in cost and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
• Accept patient referrals and provide inpatient, outpatient, or consultative services as needed.
• Participate in academic programs (e.g., medical education and research) as requested.
• Provide documentation meeting insurer requirements and appeal denials in a timely manner.
• Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty services, including on-call schedules.

About the Facility

• Established practice featuring a long-standing providers, and access to rotating heart failure and electrophysiology specialists.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinate discharge planning with case management.
• Recommend, participates in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
• Accept patient referrals from other physicians. Act as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
• Participate in academic programs (eg medical education and research) as requested.
• Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
• Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.
