Job summary

Neighborly is seeking a General Accounting Manager based in Irving, Texas (headquarters) to lead the accounting team and ensure GAAP-compliant monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes. You will manage reconciliations, review P&Ls, and partner with brand operations and marketing to strengthen controls and drive process improvements.

The role requires 5+ years in corporate accounting with leadership experience; a CPA is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of corporate accounting and/or auditing/assurance is required
• Minimum three (3) years of leadership experience
• An active CPA license is preferred
• Public company/SOX experience strongly is preferred
• MS Dynamics 365 experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and demonstrating a thorough understanding of GAAP and accounting systems, procedures
• Ensuring an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close for assigned brands/entities
• Ensuring related balance sheet accounts are accurately reconciled and fully supported
• Managing the monthly closing activities for assigned brands, entities, and line items, in compliance with the closing checklist and internal control procedures
• Reviewing and approving monthly brand operating P&Ls, with adequate commentary on fluctuations and variances to budget
• Collaborating with General Accounting and finance, and cross-functional teams to support department goals
• Monitoring and developing staff to implement more efficient procedures and automation while maintaining accuracy

As a General Accounting Manager on the Accounting team, a typical day for you will include:

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and demonstrating a thorough understanding of general accounting systems, procedures, and GAAP
• Ensuring an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close for assigned brands/entities
• Ensuring related balance sheet accounts are accurately reconciled and are fully supported
• Managing the monthly closing activities for assigned brands, entities, and line items, in compliance with the closing checklist and internal control procedures
• Reviewing and approving monthly brand operating P&Ls, ensuring adequate commentary to address fluctuations in trend and variance to budget
• Collaborating within the General Accounting and finance departments as well as with cross functional team members, such as in brand operations, marketing, etc. to support the achievement of overall department goals and objectives
• Monitoring and analyzing the work of direct reports to develop and implement more efficient procedures, technology utilization and automation, and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy

Required qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in corporate accounting and/or auditing/assurance is required
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role is required
• An active CPA license is preferred
• Public company/SOX experience strongly is preferred
• Large, automated, integrated accounting system proficiency. MS Dynamics 365 is preferred.

Education
