Job summary

Neighborly is seeking a General Accounting Manager to lead and optimize financial closes across brands and entities from our Irving,Texas headquarters or our Waco operation. You will oversee GAAP compliance, close timelines, and balance sheet reconciliations, partnering with finance and operations to drive accuracy and insight.

In this role, you’ll mentor staff, enhance processes, and implement automation to improve efficiency while maintaining strong controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and demonstrating a thorough understanding of general accounting systems, procedures, and GAAP
• Ensuring an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close for assigned brands/entities
• Ensuring related balance sheet accounts are accurately reconciled and are fully supported
• Managing the monthly closing activities for assigned brands, entities, and line items, in compliance with the closing checklist and internal control procedures
• Reviewing and approving monthly brand operating P&Ls, ensuring adequate commentary to address fluctuations in trend and variance to budget
• Collaborating within the General Accounting and finance departments as well as with cross functional team members, such as in brand operations, marketing, etc. to support the achievement of overall department goals and objectives
• Monitoring and analyzing the work of direct reports to develop and implement more efficient procedures, technology utilization and automation, and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy

As a General Accounting Manager on the Accounting team, a typical day for you will include:
