Job summary

Ascendo Resources is seeking a General Accountant to join its finance team in a role that emphasizes Accounts Payable while expanding exposure to general accounting. The position requires 2+ years of AP or general accounting experience, a degree in accounting or finance, and proficiency with Excel and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of Accounts Payable and/or general accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with accounting or ERP software.
• Experience with vendor payments, reconciliations, and invoice processing.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional demeanor and ability to handle confidential financial information appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Process and review vendor invoices for accuracy, approvals, and proper account coding.
• Prepare and process payments, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
• Maintain vendor records and assist with W-9 and 1099 documentation.
• Reconcile vendor statements and research discrepancies.
• Assist with journal entries, accruals, and accounting adjustments.
• Perform bank and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with audit, tax, compliance, and financial reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to resolve accounting-related matters.
