Job summary

Chenega Services & FederalSolutions, LLC is seeking an AI Engineer to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The role focuses on building AI-enabled web applications, including retrieval-augmented generation, knowledge assistants, and agentic workflows.

The candidate will work with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, and Foundry Agent Service, integrating tools and APIs, and ensuring secure, scalable production solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering or data-focused experience.
• 1+ years building generative AI or agentic AI solutions (LLMs, prompts, RAG).
• Experience with Python, APIs, backend services, data pipelines, and web frameworks.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, authentication, and external integrations.
• Experience with Azure or AWS cloud platforms.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, Jira, code reviews, and Agile/Scrum.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver mission-critical AI-enabled web applications.
• Develop retrieval-based knowledge assistants, chatbots, and agentic workflows.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, AI engineers, data engineers, and DevSecOps teams.
• Deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable production solutions.
• Translate emerging AI capabilities into practical applications to aid information access and decisions.
