Job summary

PitchBook, a Morningstar company, is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer (MLE) on the AI & ML (Insights) team. You will work on NLP, GenAI, and LLM-based features that unlock insights from PitchBook’s data, including reports and news.

You will design, train, deploy, and maintain models in collaboration with engineers, data scientists, and product managers. This role emphasizes scalable, production-grade systems, responsible AI, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Math, Data Science, or related field; advanced degrees preferred.
• 2+ years of software or ML engineering experience focusing on AI/ML for insights, summarization, semantic search, and prediction.
• Hands-on NLP and ML with classifiers, transformers, LLMs, and libraries like scikit-learn, pandas, numpy, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Experience delivering production GenAI or LLM systems with measurable business impact.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-impact AI and ML capabilities that drive insight generation on the PitchBook Platform.
• Design, build, and deploy AI/ML models focusing on NLP, summarization, semantic search, and prediction.
• Contribute to scalable, production-ready systems with reliability and efficiency.
• Share knowledge and participate in code/design reviews; mentor juniors.
• Develop models using classifiers, transformers, LLMs, and integrate into AI/ML infra.
• Collaborate with product and data teams to align with goals.
• Explore GenAI, NLP and search; translate research to practical solutions.
• Maintain model transparency, monitoring, and responsible AI practices.
• Participate in candidate evaluation and onboarding; contribute to docs.
• Apply Agile, Lean, Fast-Flow methodologies to model development.
