3M is seeking a dynamic and experienced GenAI Lead Prompt Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for designing and developing prompt engineering strategies and techniques to optimize the performance and output of our GenAI models. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Natural Language Processing (NLP), expertise in prompt engineering, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of AI technology. As a leader, you will possess leadership qualities to drive innovation and excellence in prompt generation processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of prompt engineering strategies and techniques to optimize the performance and output of our GenAI models.
• Implement cutting-edge NLP techniques and prompt engineering methodologies to enhance the capabilities and efficiency of our GenAI models.
• Determine the most effective prompt generation processes and approaches to drive innovation and excellence in the field of AI technology.
• Support the team by providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise in prompt engineering, NLP, and AI technology.
• Lead the design and implementation of advanced prompt generation algorithms for the GenAI platform.
• Collaborate with AI researchers and developers to enhance prompt engineering techniques.
• Optimize prompt strategies to improve model performance and efficiency.
• Mentor and guide junior prompt engineers in best practices and methodologies.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in AI prompt engineering to drive continuous improvement.
• Lead the development of Prompt Engineering Literacy program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in Computer Science or Engineering
• Eight (8) years of experience in software development in Python or Java in a private, public, government or military environment
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution
• Previous experience in AI prompt engineering at a large manufacturing company.
• Proven experience in AI prompt engineering, preferably within the GenAI domain.
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in AI development.
• 5+ years of Data Analysis experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Degree or prior experience in linguistics.
• Deep understanding of NLP, LLM, and ML.
• Strong background in AI technologies and machine learning algorithms.
• Leadership skills to guide a team of prompt engineers effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a passion for innovation in AI prompt generation.

Work Location

• Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN at least 2 days per week)
