Job summary

Cardinal Health – Sonexus Health Pharmacy Services seeks an AI Engineer to design, deploy, and scale GenAI-powered healthcare solutions. You’ll build secure, compliant AI apps, embedding them into enterprise workflows across pharmacy and clinical-adjacent processes. Collaboration with product, data, and engineering teams is essential.

The role emphasizes responsible AI, cloud deployments (Azure/GCP), and scalable, production-grade systems with strong emphasis on privacy and HIPAA controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, ML or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong Python and at least one major language (Java/.Net/C#).
• 2+ years building GenAI/LLM-based apps in real-world or enterprise environments.
• Experience designing agentic/multi-step AI workflows and orchestration frameworks.
• Experience deploying AI in cloud environments (Azure and/or GCP).
• Familiarity with secure development and enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and deploy GenAI applications with RAG, prompt engineering, and vector search.
• Build Python-based APIs and components for scalable AI services.
• Develop multi-step workflows for reasoning and execution using LangGraph and LlamaIndex.
• Integrate AI into healthcare workflows including case management and analytics.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize GenAI models with MLOps best practices.
• Collaborate across teams to meet HIPAA, PHI handling and security standards.
