Job summary

AmeriCorps & Senior Corps is hosting a Gem State Public Health program in Idaho. Members will conduct needs assessments, recruit partnerships, coordinate meetings, and design training materials to support public health agencies.

Training in ASIST, SOS, and safeTALK will prepare members to coordinate these trainings for community members and to expand the number of suicide prevention interventionists across Idaho.

Job description

Through the Gem State Public Health program, members will conduct needs assessments regarding collaborations and partnerships, and recruit potential partnerships as well as coordinate meetings, design training materials, and provide other support to public health agencies. Members will be trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Sources of Strength (SOS), and safeTALK. Members will coordinate ASIST, SOS and safeTALK trainings for community members to increase the number of suicide prevention interventionists throughout Idaho. The program will offer members academic advising and the opportunity to explore degree options that focus on public health.

Member Duties
  • Pocatello Clinic Aide will help increase, expand, and/or enhance health programs and services by helping patients along in intake process, model mental health coping skills and strategies needed for resiliency, while actively listening for indicators that patient needs access to mental health resources and discreetly providing resources.
  • Pocatello Clinic Aide will contribute to clinical support.
  • Role directly supports priority populations while helping improve health outcomes and population well-being.
  • Serving at Pocatello Free Clinic will consist of promoting overall wellness and providing important mental health resources to priority populations.
  • performing patient intakes, point of care tests, phlebotomy, and handing out mental health resources
  • assisting in community outreach events and handing out mental health resources
  • handing out mental health resources to patients/clients who may need them/ helping with the clinic pharmacy and medication dispersion.
