Job summary

AmeriCorps Gem State Public Health program in Idaho seeks an Assessment Center Specialist to support community health services through screenings, case management, and youth mental health workshops. You will coordinate ASIST, SOS, and safeTALK trainings, assist at the front desk, collect data, and help connect youth and families with local resources.

Job description

Through the Gem State Public Health program, members will conduct needs assessments regarding collaborations and partnerships, and recruit potential partnerships as well as coordinate meetings, design training materials, and provide other support to public health organizations. Members will be trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Sources of Strength (SOS), and safeTALK. Members will coordinate ASIST, SOS and safeTALK trainings for community members to increase the number of suicide prevention interventionists throughout Idaho. The program will offer members academic advising and the opportunity to explore degree options that focus on public health.

Member Duties

Assessment Center Specialists will expand capacity of public health services by assisting staff in screenings, case management, leading youth and teen mental health first aid workshops, locating appropriate mental health resources and services, and encouraging mental wellness activities. They will support the front desk in welcoming clients, community members and students. Assist in performing screenings, assessments, and case management for youth and families served by the assessment center. Perform data collection, analysis and reporting. Assist in locating appropriate services that meet the needs of youth and families. Provide support and supervision of mental and behavioral health education, and community activities through the Village programming. Mentor and assist youth in pro-social, and outreach activities including educational support and service learning. Minimum Requirements: Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, or other mental health related college courses.
