AmeriCorps & Senior Corps in Idaho's Gem State Public Health program seeks a Youth Center Aide to support youth well-being, mentor students, build partnerships with local counselors, and assist with program development.
The role involves organizing mentor activities, coordinating STEAM projects, and helping design training materials. Training in ASIST/SOS/safeTALK is provided, with the opportunity to earn an education award and a living allowance.
Through the Gem State Public Health program, members will conduct needs assessments regarding collaborations and partnerships, and recruit potential partnerships as well as coordinate meetings, design training materials, and provide other support to public health agencies. Members will be trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Sources of Strength (SOS), and safeTALK. Members will coordinate ASIST, SOS and safeTALK trainings for community members to increase the number of suicide prevention interventionists throughout Idaho. The program will offer members academic advising and the opportunity to explore degree options that focus on public health.
The Youth Center Aide will expand and enhance the capacity of existing public health programs and services by supporting the overall well‑being of youth in the program through mentorship, identifying and seeking resources for youth in need, doing outreach and building partnerships with local middle and high school counselors, and helping with overall program development.
