Job summary

YouthBuild Lakeland is a full-time six-month program where young adults ages 18-24 work to improve their lives. Participants receive classroom instruction to prepare for the GED exam, with emphasis on personal development, job placement, and leadership cultivation.

The teacher reports to the YouthBuild Senior Program Manager; responsibilities include curriculum adaptation, mentoring, and progress tracking, with a focus on helping students succeed and pursue post-secondary goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or related field preferred.
• Two years’ experience working with children in an educational setting.
• Valid first aid/CPR card required or obtainable.
• Strong commitment to helping youth succeed in an innovative training program.
• Ability to relate to a multi-racial and multi-cultural group of youth.

Responsibilities

• Develop and adapt curriculum to program needs and assess progress.
• Create individualized lesson plans and learning contracts.
• Mentor participants and support post-secondary education goals.
• Assess progress and update records in the DOL MIS system.
• Collaborate with YouthBuild staff and support participant development.
