Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a part-time GED instructor to support students at probation department sites. You will administer pre-tests, provide individualized instruction, and track progress for each student preparing for the GED exam.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred, and at least one year of classroom teaching. Excellent communication and collaboration with probation staff are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred.
• One year of practical classroom teaching experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with education representatives, volunteers and staff.
• Minimum age 21.

Responsibilities

• Administers pre-tests at probation department sites.
• Provides individual instruction and tutoring as needed.
• Provides weekly progress reports to probation staff indicating progress.
• Assists with job skills and introduction to higher education instruction as needed.
• Assists and prepares for annual GED graduation.
• Participates in emergency management activities as directed.
