Job summary

Kansas City Kansas Community College is seeking a dedicated GED Instructor (Downtown) to provide high-quality GED instruction and support for adult learners, including AOK program facilitation. Instruction spans reading, writing, math, science and social studies, aligned with GED standards and AEFLA requirements.

The role emphasizes student persistence, data-driven teaching, and collaboration with colleagues to advance postsecondary pathways and credential attainment in a full-time setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in education, adult education, or related field.
  • Training or coursework in individual learning methods for basic skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide GED instruction in reading, writing, math, science and social studies.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for diverse learning levels.
  • Use GED Ready tests and other assessments to monitor progress.
  • Integrate digital literacy and employability skills into instruction.
  • Maintain accurate student records and progress data in the LACES system.
  • Advise students on enrollment, goal setting and persistence toward GED completion.
  • Participate in staff development and PD hours as required by KCKCC.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Assistant Director/Director.
  • Facilitate Accelerating Opportunities Kansas (AOK) encounters and career pathways support.
