Job summary

Eastern New Mexico University - Roswell is seeking a part-time, temporary tutor to help students in grades 6–12 in a classroom setting. The role includes tutoring in English, Mathematics, Science, Health and other subjects and collaboration with faculty under the GEAR UP Academic Advisor.

Position Overview

Note: This position is funded through an external grant. Continued employment beyond the fiscal year is contingent upon continued funding.

Position Summary: This is a part-time, temporary appointment. The position involves tutoring students in grades 6 through 12 in a classroom setting and collaborating with faculty. This position reports to the GEAR UP Academic Advisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Promote student success and retention through effective tutoring in English, Mathematics, Science, Health and other academic subjects.
• Support students across a range of ability levels.
• Collaborate closely with faculty to support classroom instruction.
• Facilitate group study sessions.
• Demonstrate awareness of and responsiveness to the diverse backgrounds and needs of students.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, email, and Blackboard.
• Ability to travel within a 50-mile radius.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others.

Preferred

• Candidates with the ability to tutor in multiple subject areas.

Working Conditions

• Work is typically performed during regular business hours, with occasional evening and weekend hours required.
• This position is generally sedentary but may occasionally require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
