Job summary

Washington State University in Ephrata, WA is seeking a Student Achievement Specialist (SAS) for the GEAR UP program at Ephrata High School. You will mentor students and collect data for assessment, helping participants stay engaged and prepared for postsecondary opportunities.

You will collaborate with school staff and community partners, conduct family outreach on college readiness, and provide student advising and action-plans. This on-site role may include after-school and weekend activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience (master’s may substitute for one year).
• Two years of professional experience in student services providing instruction or direct outreach to students and/or working with parents in individual or group settings.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Willingness to travel overnight and work a flexible schedule, including frequent nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide student mentoring and monitor/collect data for assessment and reporting requirements.
• Increase GEAR UP students’ engagement in education and promote positive academic behaviors.
• Conduct family outreach and education on college readiness and support for students and families.
• Advise students, assess needs, and create individual action plans; collaborate with school personnel and community partners.
• Participate in after-school, evening and weekend activities.
