Qualifications

• Must hold a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree.
• Working knowledge of strategies for reducing behaviors that put students at risk of not graduating.
• Ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults.
• Ability to monitor behavior intervention plans and strategies.
• Knowledge of data review from the Mississippi Department of Education and other sources.
• Understanding of social services available to support students at risk of not graduating.
• Knowledge of alternative education opportunities (e.g. Credit Recovery, Mississippi Virtual High School, REAP).

Responsibilities

• Assist counselors with identifying high school students unlikely to graduate.
• Assist counselors in identifying potential dropouts for incoming freshmen.
• Assist counselors/teachers in updating and monitoring ICAP.
• Collaborate with counselors to analyze data for individuals and subgroups across tests and records.
• Assist Attendance Counselors with tracking attendance for potential drop-outs.
• Assist with developing and implementing intervention strategies for chronic absenteeism.
• Track progress of students toward graduation across subpopulations.
• Collect and organize documentation aligned with State and Federal Programs.
• Support seniors in completing college applications, FAFSA, scholarships.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
