Job summary

Timken Power Systems, Philadelphia Gear brand, has a current opening for a Service Center Engineer responsible for all technical aspects that support the operations of the regional service center and acts as a technical liaison to the Philadelphia Gear corporate engineering department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Experience in design or manufacturing engineering (2+ years, 4 years preferred).
• Experience with mechanical power transmission and gear drives is desirable.
• Basic knowledge of fluid film and rolling element bearings, gear design, and vibration analysis is desirable.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modeling is required.
• Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft 365/Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Implement customer requirements for repair, modification, or upgrade of equipment.
• Evaluate condition of equipment and determine reusable/repairable/replaceable components.
• Perform failure analysis and create technical reports for customers.
• Define scope of work to return equipment to full working condition.
• Measure and reverse engineer non-PG components.
• Provide calculations for manufacture of new gears or repair of existing gears.
• Design, specify, and create detail drawings of components.
• Build job travelers outlining order of operations for repairs or modifications.
• Provide hands-on technical support on the shop floor during assembly and machining operations, diagnosing issues and guiding repairs.
