We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Gear Machinist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in our production process, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. This position requires a blend of mechanical knowledge, hands-on skills, and attention to detail.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Gear Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in our production process, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. This role requires mechanical knowledge, hands-on skills, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

1. Work from process sheets, blueprints, setup sheets, setup cards, machine status boards, and verbal as well as written instructions.
2. Insert and secure tooling in machine.
3. Use hand tools and manual machines as needed.
4. Perform machine set ups as required.
5. Set up and operate gear shaping machines to machine splines or gear teeth in metal blanks, following machining instructions and gear knowledge.
6. Perform basic troubleshooting and make adjustments.
7. May train less experienced machinists.
8. Set up and verify preset gauges for calibration.

Work with supervisor, programmer & support teams to resolve problems, inspect own work for quality, and document accordingly. May operate multiple machines and rotate between departments. Enter data into ERP system and support continuous improvement activities. Load/unload parts up to 25 lbs. Machines used include Fellows, Barber, Coleman, Pfauter, Gleason, and S&T.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2 years of related machining experience and knowledge of machining principles and methods.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and prints.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills.

Physical Requirements

Moderate physical effort, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for entire shift, and performing tasks requiring manual dexterity.
