Job summary

A leading technology firm in Walnut Creek is seeking a Wireless Network Consulting Engineer to deliver Wireless Planning, Design, Implementation & Optimization Services. You will support major accounts, providing architectural planning and operational support for large-scale wireless deployments. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth knowledge of wireless technology and 5-10 years of experience in a technical consulting or network engineering environment. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills and a successful track record in network management.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years experience in a technical consulting, network engineering or telecommunications support environment.
• MS strongly preferred.
• Cisco Wireless / SP networks experience is a plus.

• Responsible for the delivery of Wireless Planning, Design, Implementation & Optimization Services.
• Performs architectural planning and design.

Job Title : GDH Consulting Req

Client : Cisco

Location : Walnut Creek, CA (that needs to be home base – T&E will be covered outside of there, 25-50% travel)

Position : Wireless Network Consulting Engineer

Rate : Market Rate

Responsible for the delivery of Wireless Planning, Design, Implementation & Optimization Services to Cisco's major accounts. Performs architectural planning and design along with configuration and integration support. Also provides operational support for complex, large scale wireless network deployments. Identifies & documents design/architecture best practices for global Cisco Services adoption.

EDUCATION: Typically requires BSEE/CS or equivalent plus 5-10 years experience in a technical consulting, network engineering or telecommunications support environment. MS strongly preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• In depth knowledge of Wireless technology


• Strong understanding of Cable and Mobile Wireless Service Provider Architectures


• RF Design, RF Survey/Engineering and RF troubleshooting skills


• WLAN and IOS infrastructure configuration skills


• Thorough understanding of 802.11 Wi-Fi standards, WLAN security and network management


• Experience designing and deploying advanced WLAN applications such as Public Wi-Fi, Secure Mobility, Voice over WLAN, Location Based Services, and Wireless Guest Access


• Expert level Inter-networking troubleshooting in a large scale network environment.


• Strong Technical Account management skills.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience using WLAN tools such as AirMagnet, Cisco Spectrum Expert, and Omnipeek


• Experience with products involved in an SP Wi-Fi solution such as Access Points, WLAN Controllers, Cisco Company management system, Mobility Services Engine, Cisco ISG, Cisco Access Registrar, Cisco Client, Broadhop QNX, Cisco ASR 5000.
