Job summary

State of NY DOL is seeking a Senior GCP Cloud Engineer in Albany, NY for a 30-month, in-person engagement. The role requires 14+ years of cloud experience and hands-on work across design, deployment, monitoring, and operations of GCP environments.

Responsibilities include IaC with Terraform, GKE cluster management, CI/CD pipelines, and ongoing security, logging, and cost optimization efforts using Cloud Build and Cloud Deploy.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of hands-on cloud engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform services and security.
• Strong IaC and automation skills with Terraform.
• Proficient scripting in Python or PowerShell and Linux/Windows admin.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain GCP-based systems.
• Implement IaC with Terraform and manage GKE clusters and services.
• Configure CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native deployment workflows.
• Monitor performance, security, cost, and incident response.

• 84 months of experience designing, developing, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining cloud-based systems in GCP in accordance with security, performance, availability, and cost-management requirements, including cloud-native application deployment, resource optimization, system monitoring, log analysis, incident diagnosis and troubleshooting, and use of GCP Cloud Build and Cloud Deploy.
• 84 months of experience implementing, automating, and administering GCP cloud infrastructure, including Infrastructure as Code using Terraform; automation using Python or PowerShell; GKE cluster, pod, and service administration; Linux and Windows server administration; and configuration and administration of GCP services including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, VPC/XPN, Cloud SQL, Redis, Secret Manager, CDN, load balancing, Cloud Armor, Logging, Monitoring, Alerting, and Pub/Sub.
• 36 Months of experience using CI/CD pipeline technologies
• 36 Months of experience using GitHub repository
• 24 Months of experience using Prisma Cloud, Tenable, OS Patching/upgrading
