Job summary

The Landings Golf and Athletic Club is seeking a Golf Course Maintenance Technician to maintain and enhance course conditioning and equipment operations on Skidaway Island, near Savannah, GA.

You will assist in mowing, irrigation, chemical applications, pump and drainage systems, and training crew on safe, efficient practices while upholding club standards and professional service.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of Golf Course Maintenance experience.
• 2–4 year degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant & Soil Sciences or similar.
• Must obtain Georgia pesticide license (group 24) within 6 months of hire.
• Spanish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greeting members and guests; assist with their needs.
• Supervise repairs and maintenance of all mechanic and motorized equipment.
• Train equipment operators in safe and efficient operation.
• Assist in supervising pumps, irrigation, and drainage systems.
• Supervise daily course preparation: mowing, setup, markers, hazards.
• Calibrate sprayers and fertilizer spreaders; assist in applications.
• Inspect turf and landscape; apply pesticides/fertilizers as needed.
• Maintain inventory of products and chemical storage per regulations.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment; keep records.
• Enforce safety policies and represent the club professionally.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Greeting members and guests and assisting with their needs
• Assisting in supervising repairs and maintenance of all mechanic and motorized equipment
• Training equipment operators in safe and efficient operation and care
• Assisting in supervising and maintaining pumps, irrigation, and drainage systems
• Supervising daily preparation of the golf course, including mowing, course set up, tee markers, hazard stakes, and out-of-bounds markers
• Performing sprayer and fertilizer spreader calibration
• Assisting in chemical/fertilizer applications
• Inspecting turf, shrubs, and other outdoor Club areas to assess pesticide/fertilizer needs and applying as necessary
• Maintaining inventory of products, chemical storage areas, and mixing areas in compliance with state regulations
• Performing preventative maintenance on all equipment as appropriate
• Maintaining accurate records on equipment and chemical/fertilizer
• Training and enforcing safety policies and procedures
• Following safety guidelines and practicing behavior that ensures safety
• Representing the club professionally

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

• 1-2 years of Golf Course Maintenance experience, with preferred people management experience
• A 2–4-year degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant and Soil Sciences, or a similar field
• Must be able to achieve a Georgia pesticide license (group 24) within 6 months of hire
• Working knowledge and applicability of construction, establishment, and maintenance practices on golf courses is a plus
• Spanish speaking skills are a plus
• Standing, kneeling, bending, pushing, and walking for 95% of the workday
• Lifting weights ranging from 1-50 pounds throughout the workday
• Stoops, crawls, twists, reaches, and manipulates equipment and power tools
• Exposure to chemicals, fertilizers, fumes, and loud noise levels
• Works outdoors, in various weather conditions
