DHL Express in Erlanger, KY is seeking a Gateway Clearance Supervisor to verify tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of shipments. You will review invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations.

The role requires coordinating with customs officials as needed, managing a ~30‑person team with two direct reports, and driving performance and process improvements across the gateway operations.

Qualifications

• BS/BA required in a related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a related role with supervisory experience.
• Professional certification may be required in some areas.
• Requires access to secured airport areas and SIDA badge eligibility.

• Establishes and revises policies, procedures, and service standards for customs clearance operations.

• Supervises a staff of ~30 with two direct reports, including coaching and development.

We have an immediate career opportunity for a qualified Gateway Clearance Supervisor. The Supervisor verifies tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise exported/imported to/from foreign destinations. The supervisor examines various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements. The supervisor ensures compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products. The supervisor may contact customs officials to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manages and coordinates customs clearance activities in the customs house brokerage or gateway environment in an, efficient and cost-effective manner
• Ensures compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products being shipped through all DHL facilities
• Establishes, monitors, and revises policies, procedures and service standards for customs clearance operations
• Ensures all policies and procedures are consistently administered
• Responsible for meeting key performance indicators targets for a given product
• Supervises a staff of approximately 30 with two direct reports. This person will be responsible for coaching, training, and developing subordinate staff
• Assigns work, sets completion dates, reviews work, and manages performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes

Skills & Qualifications:

• Complete understanding and wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in function or business area
• An advanced understanding of specific aspects of work supervised and practical application to problems and situations ordinarily encountered
• Knows and effectively uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures relative to quality and productivity improvements, training, budgeting and cost control, and progressive techniques in area of specialization
• Generally understands basic supervisory approaches for work direction, motivation, and disciplinary action
• Typically requires BS/BA and 3-5 years’ experience in related field, including at least one year of supervisory experience
• Professional certification required in some areas
• This position requires access to secured airport areas. Selected candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge, which includes passing a criminal history records check, fingerprinting, and meeting all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Candidates must be able to provide all documentation necessary to support the badging process.
