Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC seeks a GI/Hepatic Pathologist to join a high-volume, tertiary care environment with active transplantation, molecular diagnostics and cytogenetics services.

The candidate will participate in GI, hepatic and pancreatic pathology service at the MUSC Digestive Disease Center, with opportunities to teach medical students and residents, and to engage in research aligned with the Hollings Cancer Center programs.

Qualifications

• Academically oriented candidate.
• Subspecialty training in gastrointestinal pathology is required/desired.
• MD, DO, or equivalent with pathology training and ABP certification in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in South Carolina is required.
• Cytology subspecialty expertise is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Participates in a busy GI, hepatic, and pancreatic pathology service at the MUSC Digestive Disease Center.
• Works with both biopsy and resection specimens as well as general surgical pathology.
• Covers general frozen section services.
• Shares general surgical pathology call.
• Instructs medical students and trains pathology residents and gastroenterology fellows, contributing to academic mission.
