Job summary

United Digestive is seeking a patient-focused nursing support role for GI Lab procedures. Under direct supervision, you will assist with routine nursing tasks, prepare equipment, and support front office activities as directed by the Nurse in charge.

The role emphasizes patient comfort, vital signs, specimen handling, and adherence to infection control policies in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Follow written and verbal directions involving patient care policies and procedures.
• Willingness to expand skills to include minor procedures and data entry.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Set up equipment for procedures and ensure supplies are available.
• Assist physician during procedures; collect, prepare and label specimens.
• Explain procedures and expected sensations to patients and provide comfort.
• Take and record vital signs and connect monitoring equipment.
• Document on forms/computer as required.
• Maintain infection control procedures and sterile technique.
• Provide back-up support across units including scope room and office.
