Job summary

Avera on Louise Health Campus in the United States is seeking a dedicated GI assistance role to support physicians and nurses during pre-, intra-, and post-procedure stages. You will help set up rooms, manage equipment, and assist with procedure-related tasks to ensure smooth patient care.

The role requires basic education, the ability to work day shifts, and a commitment to teamwork and safety standards to move health forward.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work the hours specified and perform each essential function.
• High school diploma or GED is required; additional related training is a plus.
• Visual acuity adequate to perform duties and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Responds and assists the GI team during pre-, intra-, and post-procedure periods.
• Help with room setup, instrument prep, and case readiness.
• Assist with scope cleaning, maintenance, and related supplies.
• Enter and maintain inventory control for GI equipment and supplies.
• Position patient or equipment and connect patient to monitors as needed.
• Assist with requisition of supplies and equipment and related forms.
• Maintain GI equipment and keep stock updated.
• Coordinate workflow with care team to ensure efficient procedures.

The pay range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rate dependent upon experience. $18.75 - $24.50

Brief Overview

Responds and assists the Gastroenterologist and the Registered Nurse by providing assistance to professional staff of GI during the pre-procedure, procedure or post procedure period. This position will assist with procedure room set-up, scope cleaning and scope maintenance, as well as entering and maintaining inventory control.

What You Will Do

• Prepares the room for procedures in a timely fashion. This may include: organizing appropriate equipment and needed procedure tools; setting up quickly and accurately for cases; assuring proper and adequate equipment for all cases.
• Maintains efficiency in handling equipment at physician's request.
• Verifies specimens with Physician and Registered Nurse.
• Achieves and maintains a working knowledge of equipment and tools.
• Maintains clinical skills as required/documented in unit specific competency based criteria.
• Assists in positioning patient or equipment for procedure as well as hooking the patient up to the patient monitor.
• Assists with requisition of supplies and equipment, maintenance and repair services and prepare related forms.
• Cleans and maintains GI equipment.
• Keeps stock and equipment inventories.
