Job summary

Avera Health is seeking a GI Support Professional at the Avera on Louise Health Campus in Sioux Falls. This role supports the Gastroenterologist and Registered Nurse during pre-, intra-, and post-procedure periods, assisting with room setup, scope maintenance, and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the room for procedures in a timely fashion. This may include: organizing appropriate equipment and needed procedure tools; setting up quickly and accurately for cases; assuring proper and adequate equipment for all cases.
• Maintains efficiency in handling equipment at physician’s request.
• Verifies specimens with Physician and Registered Nurse.
• Achieves and maintains a working knowledge of equipment and tools.
• Maintains clinical skills as required/documented in unit specific competency based criteria.
• Assists in positioning patient or equipment for procedure as well as hooking the patient up to the patient monitor.
• Assists with requisition of supplies and equipment, maintenance and repair services and prepare related forms.
• Cleans and maintains GI equipment.
• Keeps stock and equipment inventories.

A Brief Overview

Responds and assists the Gastroenterologist and the Registered Nurse by providing assistance to professional staff of GI during the pre-procedure, procedure or post procedure period.
