Job summary

BASS Medical Group in Danville, CA is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our gastroenterology team. You will focus on clinical evaluation, patient education, and pre-/post-procedure consultations under Dr. Salim Shelby, with no endoscopy procedures by you.

The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with no weekends, nights, or on-call requirements. We offer strong mentorship, a supportive office, and robust benefits including PTO, 401(k), CME

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted California NP or PA license (or eligibility).
• GI experience preferred; internal medicine background considered with mentorship under Dr. Shelby.
• Strong bedside manner and patient relationship focus; HIPAA compliance required.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical evaluation, patient education, and consultations.
• Handle pre-procedure and post-procedure visits to review findings with patients.
• No procedural skills required; physician performs endoscopies.
• Manage a typical 15–20 patient per day volume with 30-minute slots.

Practice Overview:

• Broad Scope of Care: Provide comprehensive adult gastroenterology care. Focus primarily on handling pre-procedure consultations and post-procedure visits to review findings with patients, with the opportunity to expand your clinical scope over time.
• Clinical Duties: Focus strictly on clinical evaluation, relationship-building, and patient education. (No procedural skills are required, as the physician handles all endoscopies and colonoscopies).
• Quality Over Quantity: Manage a highly comfortable volume of 15 to 20 patients per day. Benefit from dedicated 30-minute appointment slots for all patients, ensuring you have the time to provide exceptional, unhurried care.

Compensation & Benefits:

The estimated salary range for this role starts at $180,000 in base pay and is exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on relevant factors such as experience, education, and geographic location.

Qualifications:

• Licensure: Active, unrestricted California license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (or eligibility to obtain).
• Experience: Clinical practicing experience in Gastroenterology is highly preferred; however, candidates with a strong Internal Medicine background who are eager to learn and train directly under Dr. Shelby are highly encouraged to apply.
