Job summary

GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant II to support physicians with patient care and administrative duties. The role blends clinical and clerical responsibilities to facilitate smooth patient flow, accurate charting, and efficient clinic operations.

Responsibilities include vital signs, specimen collection, screenings, and EMR entries, as well as coordinating patient scheduling, check-in/out, and insurance verification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or medical assisting credential.
• Minimum one year in a medical facility as a medical assistant (externship OK).
• Gastroenterology experience preferred.
• Level II requires 4+ years experience or more independent duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with patient care and handling clerical tasks.
• Check schedules and organize patient flow; accompany patients to exam/procedure room.
• Assist patients with transfers, dress, collect specimens, and prepare for exams.
• Record patient history and vital signs; perform screenings per provider guidelines; assist with medications.
• Relay instructions to patients and families; perform phone triage; verify medications with orders.
• Manage patient records, scheduling, check-in/out, insurance verification, and chart updates.
