Job summary

Ardent Health Services in Tulsa, OK is seeking a day shift, full-time Gastroenterology Medical Assistant (MA) to support a fast-paced clinic team. The MA will perform administrative and delegated clinical tasks within a patient-centered care environment under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Graduate from an accredited MA program or two years MA experience.
• Current CMA or RMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic-based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.
• Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history, medical coding, and files claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Patient visit support that may include greeting patients, escorting to exam room, and taking vital signs and other applicable medical information.
• Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments. Ensures patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients.
• Assists in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments and equipment for all exam rooms.
• Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness.
• Addresses and requests referrals and other insurance authorizations and passes along patient information for prescriptions, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties.
