Job summary
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Assistant Section Chief for Gastroenterology at the Nashville Campus.
This physician leader holds a dual appointment with the VA Tennessee Valley Health System and the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, supporting clinical excellence and academic collaboration. The role includes supervising endoscopic services, teaching residents and fellows, guiding quality improvement, and coordinating interdisciplinary care while maintaining patient
Qualifications
- MD degree from an approved medical school.
- Current full and unrestricted medical license.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine.
- Gastroenterology fellowship completed.
- Experience supervising medical students and residents.
- Academic medicine experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive internal medicine and GI care to Veterans.
- Perform and supervise upper and lower GI endoscopies.
- Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Teach residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical settings.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care with Vanderbilt and VA teams.
