Job summary

Duke Gastroenterology in Raleigh, NC is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to deliver adult hepatology outpatient care. The APP will work under a supervising physician in a busy GI clinic, manage medications, perform FibroScan procedures, and coordinate care across teams.

The role requires NC licensure as an NP or PA, BLS, and relevant clinical experience in gastroenterology or outpatient care.

Qualifications

• NP: Masters in Nursing required; PA: Bachelor's degree required with master's preferred.
• BLS certification is required.
• NC RN licensure for Nurse Practitioners; NC PA license and NCCPA certification for PAs.

Responsibilities

• Record history and perform physical exams in outpatient and hospital settings.
• Establish and follow care plans with supervising physician and coordinate with inpatient teams.
• Prescribe medications and manage prior authorizations with specialty pharmacy.
• Perform FibroScan procedures and order labs, tests, and follow up.
• Educate patients and families; coordinate care with other clinicians.
• Document encounters in the Epic Maestro system and review results.
• Collaborate with HUB Triage Nurses on patient triage and scheduling of urgent visits.
• Attend GI Grand Rounds and participate in divisional educational events.

Education

Master's degree in Nursing
