Job summary

VA St. Louis Health Care System is recruiting a full-time Gastroenterologist for the John Cochran Division, within Specialty Care Service.

The role focuses on comprehensive GI care for veterans, including inpatient and ambulatory services, with opportunities for teaching Washington University and Saint Louis University trainees. The physician will perform GI procedures, provide consultative care, and participate in on-call duties with other GI staff.

Qualifications

• Must meet U.S. citizenship or eligibility per VA policy.
• MD/DO degree from accredited school.
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
• Completed residency in an approved program leading to board eligibility.
• PRPs may apply and are supervised under scope of practice.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Provide medical evaluation and management in collaboration with the health care team.
• Deliver GI services for outpatients and inpatients.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage GI and hepatobiliary diseases.
• Provide inpatient/outpatient consultations related to GI and liver disease.
• Oversee conscious sedation administration.
• Perform GI procedures (EGD, dilation, colonoscopy, etc.).
• Collaborate with PAs and nurse coordinators; supervise residents and students.
