Actalent in Suffolk County, NY is seeking a Gastroenterologist for a permanent, onsite role in West Islip. The position balances procedural GI care with outpatient consultation and patient education.

The ideal candidate will be board-certified in Gastroenterology after completing an ABIM-accredited fellowship, holding an MD or DO, with a valid state license and experience in colonoscopy/EGD procedures. The team offers a collaborative environment and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required.
• Completion of Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship.
• ABIM board certification in Gastroenterology.
• Active state medical license or eligibility.
• Experience in GI procedures and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat GI and liver disorders in outpatient and procedural settings.
• Perform colonoscopies and upper endoscopies (EGD) with high-quality patient care.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evaluation.
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and pathology to guide management.
• Manage acute and chronic GI conditions (GERD, IBD, IBS, hepatitis).
• Provide consultations to other providers and expert recommendations.
• Deliver follow-up care and monitor patient progress.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses and treatment options.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation.
• Collaborate with PCPs, surgeons, oncologists and others for coordinated care.
• Participate in quality improvement and ensure regulatory compliance.
