Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Harlingen, TX is seeking a Gastroenterologist to deliver comprehensive GI care with a focus on hepatitis at the Health Care Center – Ambulatory Surgery Center in Harlingen. Recruitment/Relocation incentives may be offered; Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) eligibility is noted.

The physician will provide services in both inpatient and outpatient settings, participate in teaching, and meet VA credentialing and clinical standards.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required; non-citizens only if recruitment is not possible.
• MD or DO degree from VA-approved medical school.
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the United States.
• Board certification/eligibility in Gastroenterology; VA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary, secondary, and tertiary GI care in hospital and outpatient settings.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and related procedures.
• Coordinate care with health service personnel and educate patients and families.
• Engage in teaching, research, and CME activities as appropriate.
