Job summary

Actalent in West Islip, NY is seeking a Gastroenterologist for a permanent role in Suffolk County. The position combines clinical care with procedural work in an operating room/endoscopy suite and outpatient clinic.

The candidate will evaluate and treat GI and liver disorders, perform colonoscopies and EGD, develop individualized treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. A board-certified GI physician with an active NY license is required.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree.
• Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program.
• Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowship.
• Board Certification in Gastroenterology through ABIM.
• Active state medical license or eligibility for state licensure.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat GI and liver disorders in outpatient and procedural settings.
• Perform colonoscopies and upper endoscopies (EGD) with high-quality patient care.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation, diagnostics, and patient preferences.
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and pathology to guide diagnosis and management.
• Manage GERD, IBD, IBS, hepatitis, liver disease, and GI bleeding.
• Provide consultations to other clinicians with recommendations for complex GI and liver cases.
• Deliver follow-up care and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, options, risks, and preventive care.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation.
• Collaborate with PCPs, surgeons, oncologists, and other specialists.
• Participate in quality improvement to enhance outcomes and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
