Job summary

American Welding & Gas, Inc. is hiring a Counter Representative in Springfield, MO to assist customers in purchasing gases and welding supplies.

You will handle cylinder returns, manage inventory, process transactions, and help schedule deliveries while maintaining safety and security throughout the store. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, CDL Class B with Hazmat endorsement or ability to obtain, and prior customer service or sales experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement or ability to obtain it.
• Experience in customer service or sales preferred.
• Ability to move and lift heavy cylinders (50–75 pounds) and maneuver 100+ pound cylinders.
• Cash handling and POS experience preferred.
• Forklift operation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in store and by phone to purchase and order products.
• Handle cylinder returns, exchanges and purchases.
• Process cash, credit card, and charge transactions; reconcile cash drawers.
• Perform branch collection activities and customer retention calls.
• Assist with opening/closing and securing cylinders and store areas.
• Monitor inventory and receive freight; label barcodes and part numbers.
• Schedule deliveries and service calls; ensure safety policies are followed.
• Support manager in achieving sales targets within budget constraints.
