Job summary

American Welding & Gas in Groves, TX is seeking a Counter Representative to assist customers in purchasing gases and welding supplies, both in-store and by phone. You will handle cylinder returns, manage cash/credit transactions, and support inventory with the store team.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, a clean driving record, and a willingness to learn our product line. Forklift and computer skills are a plus in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Clean driving record.
• Experience in customer service or sales preferred.
• Able to move compressed gas and heavy cylinders; lift 50–75 lbs and maneuver 100+ lb cylinders.
• Cash register experience preferred.
• Ability to operate a forklift preferred.
• Strong computer skills and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in store and by phone to purchase and order products.
• Handle cylinder returns, exchanges and purchases.
• Process cash and card transactions; reconcile end-of-day cash drawer.
• Support branch collection activities and customer retention calls.
• Open/close store with manager; secure all cylinders and set alarms.
• Monitor inventory levels and receive freight; label barcodes.
• Schedule deliveries and service calls; assist outside sales team.
