Job summary

The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities – Water Utility Division seeks a Gas and Water Field Supervisor to oversee Gas and Water Service Technicians. You will supervise, schedule, and coach a team, ensuring efficient field operations and customer service.

Essential duties include dispatch, performance monitoring, and safety compliance while coordinating with internal and external customers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED with one year of college/technical training.
• Two years of experience in a related utility or supervisory role.
• Driver's license required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and plan work for Gas and Water Service Technicians.
• Select, train, evaluate, and counsel staff; handle discipline and terminations.
• Assign work, coach technicians, and monitor on-site performance.
• Manage dispatch duties and communications for proper placement.
• Monitor workload and employee performance; track overtime and travel.
• Schedule and distribute assignments; analyze daily data for performance.
• Ensure customer service quality; maintain meter reading and AMR equipment.
• Comply with safety regulations and train subordinates accordingly.
