Job summary

Quest Defense Systems & Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, Integrity/Structures, to perform structural analysis and substantiation for gas turbine engine components. The role uses FEA and hand calculations to verify designs, durability, and fracture mechanics, collaborating with internal and customer teams.

The candidate will document plans, assumptions, results, and conclusions, and present findings in technical reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 2+ years of gas turbine structural analysis or related aerospace structures experience.
• Strong understanding of fatigue, fracture mechanics, durability, and related principles.
• Experience using FEA and hand calculations for design substantiation.
• Proficient with CAE tools listed (ANSYS Classic/Workbench, Simcenter, Nastran/Patran, ABAQUS).
• Able to document analysis plans, methods, results clearly and concisely.
• Strong written and verbal communication, cross-functional collaboration.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural and mechanical integrity analysis for gas turbine components.
• Use FEA and hand calculations to support design decisions and customer requirements.
• Evaluate durability, fatigue life, and fracture mechanics considerations.
• Build and analyze models using major CAE tools (ANSYS, Simcenter, Nastran/Patran, ABAQUS).
• Prepare technical reports and substantiation documents for reviews and customers.
• Collaborate across engineering teams and customers to communicate findings.
